He is 80 years old, she is 78.
They are standing in front of the camera just like on the day of their wedding. There is a big smile on their face, happiness. The grandchildren are joining them and so are the children and their spouses, happiness. I am asking the family to hug and hold hands. They laugh; surprised it is possible doing it this way…
It is a great joy to photograph family albums. Sometimes the reason will be a coming Bar/Bat Mitzvah, sometimes a gift for a special occasion and sometimes for no particular reason. Either way, it is a gathering full of joy which gives me the opportunity to grant the photographed people a special private moment of their own: A small personal and collective moment in front of the camera.
What comes after is varied: a large framed picture given as a gift, or a copy of a family album full of love and warmth which every family receives a copy of. A family album is a magical and intimate moment between the family members and the camera.
I love being the one behind the camera.
